Earlier today over lunch here in Manhattan, Emerging Pictures announced the winner of the 2007 indieWIRE: Undiscovered Gems Audience Award, sponsored by Sundance Channel and presented by The New York Times and Emerging Pictures. The victor receives theatrical distribution through Emerging Pictures, backed by $50,000 in P&A plus a $50,000 license fee for the exclusive broadcast on Sundance Channel. And the winner is?

Two hours before the debut of the "I'm Not There" at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival on Wednesday night (September 12th), director Todd Haynes and producer Christine Vachon duck outside of the film's pre-screening premiere party with indieWIRE to talk about the challenges of making the film and the theme of "identity" that touches many of the movies the two have made together over the years. The new film, inspired by Bob Dylan, stars Cate Blanchett, Richard Gere, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger and others each portraying a Dylan-esque character at a different point in his life.
